Ginger or orange cats are very popular and choosing a name for your ginger cat can be a lot fun as there are so many names to choose from! These are our favourites:
Ginger — Especially a great name if you have a pair of cats you call Fred and Ginger.
Sienna — Meaning orange-red and referring to the colour of the clay found in the Siena-area in Italy.
Flame — “Flame” plays on the warmth of the colour of your cat’s coat.
Phoenix — The phoenix is an immortal, mythical bird. You could also name your cat “Firebird” after the Slavic mythological bird.
Sunspot — A sunspot is a phenomena that appears on the surface of the sun at times. It’s also a cute name for a cat who loves lounging in a spot of sunlight.
Ember — A glowing ember’s colour may well remind you of the deep colour of your ginger cat’s coat.
Amber — Golden fossilised resin from trees, often worn as jewellery.
Peaches — Even better if you have a second cat you can call “Cream”!
Saffron — Saffron is an expensive spice used in Middle Eastern cooking and sometimes in dyeing. It gives off a rich yellow-orange colour.
Lily — A beautiful name for a beautiful feline that brings to mind a flame lily.
Orchid — In much the same way as lily, the name Orchid evokes the beauty of your cat, while being a not-so-obvious name choice.
Mars — The name of the Red Planet and a god of war; Mars is the perfect name for a large tomcat.
Cayenne — This red pepper makes a unique cat name for your ginger tom.
Blaze — Much like “Flame”, this unique name plays on the warmth of the colour of your cat’s coat.
Firefly — Whether you prefer the insect or the spaceship from Firefly is up to you; either way it makes a unique name!
Butterscotch — A perfect name for a sweet female cat.
