What do Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and Main Coon cats all have in common? Hair obviously isn’t the answer is it? No, we’re physically tough, intimidatingly muscular, good looking nice guys. But we’ve got more in common with these Hollywood heroes! Read on and find out.
The Snowy Mountains
You don’t need to be a genius to figure out that we’re made for harsh winters and as our name suggests Maine Coons originate from Maine. There are a lot of rumours about our origins, like we’re part racoon - there’s no evidence for this - or that we descend from the cats of Marie Antoinette - I’d like to think this one is true.
Mountain Cats
Let’s not beat around the bush here, Maine Coon cats are a good looking cat breed. We’re big, muscular, have high cheekbones, large tufted ears, strong legs and don’t get me started on our fur; long, flowing and shaggy with an obvious ruff around the neck and a plumed, bushy tail. God, we’re good. If Catmopoliatian magazine did a list of 100 Hottest Cats we’d definitely be in the top three. We’re not one of those cat breeds whose looks are the result of a meticulously planned beauty regime, oh no, our fur is naturally glossy and low maintenance.
Young at heart
Maine Coon Cats have a playful, kitten-like demeanour which, along with our good looks, makes us a big hit with the ladies and if that’s not enough to win their affections we’ll impress them with our hunting skills! We’re happy to hug our humans but don’t cramp our style by trying to turn us into a lap cat, we like to be independent.
Gentle Giants
We just wanna have a laugh with people, cats, dogs, you name it but if anyone tries to hurt or upset our human then we’ll bring the pain. Love and protect, that’s our motto and we’re so dedicated to your safety that we’ll even join you in the shower…. you know, just to, errr, make sure no one will hurt you when you’re at your most vulnerable…. Who am I kidding? We just love the water.
A Cat of Many Talents
We’re pretty good at singing. You’ve never heard a beefcake carry a tune like we do! We love to sing and will happily chirp your troubles away for you.
